Mesdames, Messieurs<\/strong><\/p>

C\u2019est avec un grand plaisir que je vous accueille ce jour dans les jardins de l\u2019Ambassade du Cameroun, dans le cadre de la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie D\u2019HONNEUR AU DRAPEAU NATIONAL,<\/strong> \u00e0 l\u2019occasion de la 51e \u00e9dition<\/strong> de la F\u00eate Nationale de la R\u00e9publique du Cameroun.
Votre pr\u00e9sence ici, en ce jour de f\u00eate, malgr\u00e9 les d\u00e9lais particuli\u00e8rement serr\u00e9s, d\u00e9montre clairement votre amour et votre attachement au Cameroun.
Je vous remercie tr\u00e8s sinc\u00e8rement et vous souhaite une chaleureuse bienvenue.
Il s\u2019agit pour nous tous, de retrouvailles tant souhait\u00e9es, pour combler un vide qui se faisait d\u00e9j\u00e0 fortement ressentir au sein de notre communaut\u00e9, provoquant de mani\u00e8re perceptible, un vide relev\u00e9 par les uns et les autres.
En effet, nous n\u2019avons pas c\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9 le 20 mai depuis l\u2019an 2020 \u00e0 cause de la COVID-19, qui a boulevers\u00e9 au cours des derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, tous les codes, modifiant ainsi diff\u00e9rents projets collectifs ou individuels.
Aujourd\u2019hui est donc jour de victoire pour nous, qui renouons avec la tradition que nous avons de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer notre unit\u00e9 chaque ann\u00e9e.
Et c\u2019est \u00e0 dessein que nous le faisons ici, dans notre maison commune, dans votre maison, la maison du Cameroun.<\/p>

Mesdames et messieurs ;<\/strong><\/p>

La vie d\u2019un pays, bref la vie tout court est faite d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e8nements aussi marquants les uns que les autres. Certains sont positifs, d\u2019autres le sont moins mais, tous impactent durablement nos vies.
Comme vous le savez, le Cameroun et l\u2019Ambassade du Cameroun \u00e0 Berlin ont perdu, le 13 mai<\/strong> dernier, l\u2019un de leurs vaillants fils, j\u2019ai nomm\u00e9 SEM l\u2019Ambassadeur Jean-Marc MPAY, ancien Ambassadeur du Cameroun en Allemagne, mon pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur \u00e0 ce poste.<\/p>

Pour honorer la m\u00e9moire de ce haut commis de l\u2019Etat et celle de tous nos fr\u00e8res et s\u0153urs qui nous ont quitt\u00e9s, je voudrais vous prier d\u2019accepter que nous observions une minute de silence en ce lieu o\u00f9 Son Excellence MPAY a, au nom du Cameroun, servi ses compatriotes pendant de nombreuses ann\u00e9es avec tact, professionnalisme et humanisme.

Mesdames et Messieurs,<\/strong><\/p>

Permettez-moi maintenant de relever une fois de plus, l\u2019importance accord\u00e9e au 20 mai<\/strong> par tous les Camerounais et leurs amis, en rappelant que c\u2019est en 1972 que les Camerounais, de tous horizons, du nord au sud et de l\u2019est \u00e0 l\u2019ouest, ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9, \u00e0 travers un r\u00e9f\u00e9rendum, de faire volontairement leurs adieux au syst\u00e8me f\u00e9d\u00e9ral pour choisir pour notre cher pays, la forme unitaire.
Depuis lors, les Camerounais, chacun et chacune avec ses potentialit\u00e9s et son g\u00e9nie, n\u2019ont cess\u00e9 d\u2019\u0153uvrer sans rel\u00e2che pour relever les nombreux d\u00e9fis qui sous-tendent l\u2019\u00e9dification de la nation en \u00e9pousant les vertus du patriotisme, de l\u2019int\u00e9gration nationale et de l\u2019unit\u00e9 dans la diversit\u00e9.
Nous le savons tous, l\u2019un des d\u00e9fis auquel fait face le Cameroun, reconnu pour \u00eatre un v\u00e9ritable havre de paix dans une sous-r\u00e9gion g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement troubl\u00e9e par divers conflits, rel\u00e8ve de l\u2019ins\u00e9curit\u00e9 provoqu\u00e9e depuis quelques ann\u00e9es par le groupe terroriste BOKO HARAM, heureusement maitris\u00e9 par nos forces de d\u00e9fense et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, m\u00eame s\u2019il est triste de d\u00e9plorer le caract\u00e8re brutal de certains de leurs raids.
Par ailleurs, dans les r\u00e9gions du Nord-Ouest et du Sud-Ouest de notre pays, une crise qui met \u00e0 mal la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de nos compatriotes qui ne demandent qu\u2019\u00e0 vaquer \u00e0 leurs occupations, perturbe les activit\u00e9s socio-\u00e9conomiques et par voie de cons\u00e9quence, le d\u00e9veloppement de ces zones, pourtant strat\u00e9giques pour l\u2019avenir.
En partenariat avec des pays amis et la communaut\u00e9 internationale, le Cameroun met un point d\u2019honneur \u00e0 relever ces d\u00e9fis qui impliquent les d\u00e9placements des populations et l\u2019afflux des r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s.
C\u2019est le lieu pour nous de rappeler le th\u00e8me de la 51e \u00e9dition de la F\u00eate Nationale, \u00e0 savoir :
FORCES DE DEFENSE ET PEUPLE CAMEROUNAIS, EN SYMBIOSE POUR LA SAUVEGARDE DE LA PAIX ET DE L\u2019UNITE NATIONALE, SOCLE D\u2019UN CAMEROUN FORT ET PROSPERE.<\/strong><\/p>

DEFENCE FORCES AND CAMEROONIAN PEOPLE, IN HARMONY TO SAFEGUARD PEACE AND NATIONAL UNITY, BEDROCK OF A STRONG AND PROSPEROUS CAMEROON.<\/strong>
Il s\u2019agit ici d\u2019un v\u00e9ritable hymne \u00e0 la paix, l\u2019unit\u00e9 et le d\u00e9veloppement auquel sont convi\u00e9s tous les Camerounais tant de l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur que de l\u2019int\u00e9rieur du pays.<\/p>

Aussi, la diaspora, est-elle concern\u00e9e au plus haut point, par sa qualit\u00e9, son volume et son activit\u00e9, du reste salu\u00e9s par Monsieur le Pr\u00e9sident de la R\u00e9publique qui l\u2019encourage \u00e0 investir au Cameroun.<\/p>

The diaspora is concerned to the highest degree, by its quality, its workforce and its activity, moreover welcomed by the President of the Republic who encourage it to invest in Cameroon.<\/strong>
En effet, notre pays a besoin de tous ses enfants pour se d\u00e9velopper, conform\u00e9ment aux diff\u00e9rents programmes fix\u00e9s par le Gouvernement, ex\u00e9cut\u00e9s avec l\u2019aide des pays amis au rang desquels l\u2019Allemagne.
Chers compatriotes de la diaspora camerounaise en Allemagne, en ce jour o\u00f9 nous c\u00e9l\u00e9brons notre pays, ses fils et ses filles, je voudrais me retourner vers vous pour vous dire toute la fiert\u00e9 que procurent vos actions dans ce pays, au Cameroun et ailleurs.
Vous \u00eates en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 les v\u00e9ritables ambassadeurs du Cameroun, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 vos r\u00e9alisations dans des domaines aussi vari\u00e9s que divers, dans lesquels vous excellez par ailleurs.
In reality, you are the true ambassadors of Cameroon, thanks to your achievements in fields as varied as they are diverse, in which you also excel.<\/strong>
Je vous invite \u00e0 aller de l\u2019avant, en \u00e9vitant toutefois l\u2019autosatisfaction, l\u2019autoglorification, la routine, l\u2019individualisme ou l\u2019\u00e9go\u00efsme.
Il va sans dire que je souhaite vous voir rassembl\u00e9s et sinc\u00e8res, sans calculs personnels, loin des querelles de leadership inutiles, concentr\u00e9s sur l\u2019avenir de notre pays qui, en r\u00e9alit\u00e9 est notre seul patrimoine commun.
J\u2019en appelle par cons\u00e9quent \u00e0 l\u2019humilit\u00e9, le discernement, la solidarit\u00e9 et la tol\u00e9rance afin que l\u2019\u00e9lan que nous avons ensemble engag\u00e9 avec beaucoup d\u2019espoirs le 3 d\u00e9cembre 2022 ici m\u00eame \u00e0 l\u2019Ambassade du Cameroun \u00e0 Berlin, soit redynamis\u00e9e pour que seule pr\u00e9domine l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat du Cameroun.
Je compte sur vous ici pr\u00e9sents ainsi que sur ceux qui n\u2019ont pas, pour des raisons diverses, pu faire le d\u00e9placement.
L\u2019Ambassade, quant \u00e0 elle, avec tout son personnel, ne m\u00e9nagera aucun effort pour vous apporter toute son assistance, sous r\u00e9serve bien entendu, du respect des lois et r\u00e8glements, de l\u2019\u00e9thique et des valeurs qui constituent le socle de notre unit\u00e9.

Ladies and Gentlemen<\/p>

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you today in the gardens of the Embassy of Cameroon, for the ceremony of HONOUR TO THE NATIONAL FLAG, on the occasion of the 51st edition of the National Day of the Republic of Cameroon.
Your presence here on this day of celebration, despite the particularly tight deadlines, clearly demonstrates your love and attachment to Cameroon.
I thank you most sincerely and wish you a warm welcome.
For all of us, this is a long-awaited reunion, to fill a void that was already strongly felt within our community, causing a perceptible void that was noted by some and others.
Indeed, we have not celebrated the 20th of May since the year 2020 because of the COVID-19, which over the last few years has upset all the codes, thus modifying various collective or individual projects.
Today is therefore a day of victory for us, as we renew our tradition of celebrating our unity every year.
And we are doing it here on purpose, in our common house, in your house, the house of Cameroon.<\/p>

Dear compatriots;
Ladies and Gentlemen;<\/p>

The life of a country, in short, life itself, is made up of events, each one as significant as the next. Some are positive, others less so, but all have a lasting impact on our lives.
As you know, Cameroon and the Embassy of Cameroon in Berlin lost, on 13 May last, one of their valiant sons, I named H.E. Ambassador Jean-Marc MPAY, former Ambassador of Cameroon to Germany, my predecessor in this position.<\/p>

To honour the memory of this high state official and that of all our brothers and sisters who have left us, I would like to ask you to accept that we observe a minute’s silence in this place where His Excellency MPAY, on behalf of Cameroon, served his compatriots for many years with tact, professionalism and humanism.

Ladies and Gentlemen,<\/p>

Allow me now to note once again the importance attached to the 20th of May by all Cameroonians and their friends, by recalling that it was in 1972 that Cameroonians, from all walks of life, from the North to the South and from the East to the West, decided, through a referendum, to voluntarily bid farewell to the federal system and choose the unitary form for our dear country.
Since then, Cameroonians, each with his or her own potential and genius, have not ceased to work tirelessly to meet the many challenges that underlie nation building by espousing the virtues of patriotism, national integration and unity in diversity.
As we all know, one of the challenges facing Cameroon, which is known to be a true haven of peace in a sub-region generally troubled by various conflicts, is the insecurity caused for some years by the terrorist group BOKO HARAM, which has fortunately been brought under control by our defence and security forces, even if it is sad to deplore the brutal nature of some of their raids.
Furthermore, in the North-West and South-West regions of our country, a crisis that undermines the security of our compatriots who are only too happy to go about their business, disrupts socio-economic activities and consequently the development of these areas, which are strategic for the future.
In partnership with friendly countries and the international community, Cameroon makes it a point of honour to take up these challenges which involve the displacement of populations and the influx of refugees.
This is the place for us to recall the theme of the 51st edition of the National Day, namely :
DEFENCE FORCES AND CAMEROONIAN PEOPLE, IN SYMBIOSIS FOR THE SAFEGUARDING OF PEACE AND NATIONAL UNITY, THE FOUNDATION OF A STRONG AND PROSPEROUS CAMEROON.<\/b><\/p>

This is a real hymn to peace, unity and development to which all Cameroonians are invited both from outside and inside the country.<\/p>

Indeed, our country needs all its children to develop, in line with the various programmes set by the Government, executed with the help of friendly countries, among which Germany.
Dear compatriots of the Cameroonian Diaspora in Germany, on this day when we celebrate our country, its sons and daughters, I would like to turn to you to tell you how proud you are of your actions in this country, in Cameroon and elsewhere.
In reality, you are the true ambassadors of Cameroon, thanks to your achievements in various fields in which you excel.
In reality, you are the true ambassadors of Cameroon, thanks to your achievements in fields as varied as they are diverse, in which you also excel.
I invite you to move forward, but avoid complacency, self-glorification, routine, individualism or egotism.
It goes without saying that I wish to see you united and sincere, without personal calculations, far from useless leadership quarrels, focused on the future of our country which, in reality, is our only common heritage.
I therefore call for humility, discernment, solidarity and tolerance so that the momentum we started together with great hopes on December 3, 2022 here at the Cameroon Embassy in Berlin, be revitalized so that only the interest of Cameroon prevails.
I am counting on you here today as well as on those who could not, for various reasons, make the trip.
As for the Embassy, with all its staff, it will spare no effort to provide you with all its assistance, subject, of course, to the respect of laws and regulations, ethics and values that constitute the foundation of our unity.
I wish you all a happy National Unity Day.
