LAISSEZ-PASSER

A. Role of the Laissez-passer

The laissez-passer is a temporary travel document issued to Cameroonian nationals who can prove their citizenship and wish to travel to Cameroon without a passport.

B. Eligible persons

Any Cameroonian national wishing to travel to Cameroon who does not have a travel document (passport) in their possession.

This includes:

  • Persons who have lost their travel document (passport)
  • Persons who have never held a passport
  • People unable to obtain a passport from a diplomatic mission abroad
  • People in the process of repatriation

C. Available options

Two options are available:

  • Ordinary laissez-passer – issued to Cameroonian nationals without a travel document
  • Mortuary laissez-passer – authorisation for the transfer of a body

1 – ORDINARY LAISSEZ-PASSER

a) Documents to prepare (to be scanned for uploading)

  • Copy of passport or other identity document (birth certificate, national identity card, certificate of nationality)
  • Copy of flight ticket
  • Copy of residence permit (where applicable)
📋 b) Procedure (4 steps)

Pre-registration (online)

The user provides: their personal details, details of their travel documents, details of their valid identity document, their place of residence.

Online payment

The user makes the payment via the module integrated into the platform.

Processing of the application (approval)

The diplomatic mission or consular post examines the application and decides on the action to be taken.

Registration at the Embassy then issuance

Following approval, the user attends the Embassy or Consulate for registration, after which the laissez-passer is issued.

Important: the competent Diplomatic Mission or Consular Post covers the country of departure for the journey.

c) Online payment

€115 for Germany

d) Processing

  • Once pre-registration has been completed, the user has an indicative period of 7 days to receive a response from the Embassy’s services.
  • If approved, the user is notified to attend the Embassy for the issuance of the laissez-passer.

e) Registration and issuance of the laissez-passer

Users are invited to contact the Embassy services during opening hours for the issuance of the laissez-passer, with the supporting documents indicating the approval issued by the competent services.

f) Important points

  • No fees will be refunded once the application has been submitted for processing (except for overpayments following a request).
  • Use the official platform www.evisacam.cm (be wary of scams).

2 – MORTUARY LAISSEZ-PASSER

a) Documents to prepare (to be scanned for uploading)

  • Copy of the deceased’s passport or other identity document (birth certificate, national identity card, certificate of nationality)
  • Copy of flight ticket
  • Copy of the deceased’s residence permit
  • Copy of death certificate

The user provides and uploads: information about the funeral company/undertaker, information about the authorised person, information about the deceased, travel information, declarations on oath, digital supporting documents.

Online payment

The user makes the payment online via the platform.

Application processing

The diplomatic mission or consular post examines the application and approves it.

Issuance of the laissez-passer

After approval, the laissez-passer is issued.

d) Processing

⚜️ Official Communication

The Embassy of Cameroon in the Federal Republic of Germany informs the Cameroonian community in Germany that it has been informed of the murder of Ms. YOMI MBAKOB Virginie Sonya, a Cameroonian national, which occurred on 31 August 2026 in Erkner, on the outskirts of Berlin.

The alleged perpetrator of this act has been apprehended, and police investigations have been opened.

Deeply affected by the death of one of its fellow citizens, the Embassy expresses its condolences to the relatives of the deceased, to her family, and to the members of the Cameroonian community in Germany.

The competent German authorities have been contacted in order to request precise information regarding this tragedy and the investigation opened by the Police.

While sharing the emotion and sadness felt by the Cameroonian community following this act, the Ambassador commends the spirit of solidarity that has been shown and calls upon his compatriots to remain calm and composed, pending the outcome of the investigation and the subsequent judicial proceedings.
