THE AUTISTIC CAMEROONIAN, NDOGNDJE LAMINA NAJMA LOUISETTE, WINNER OF THE GOLD MEDAL IN THE WOMEN’S 100 METRES AT THE SPECIAL OLYMPIC GAMES IN BERLIN (17 -25 JUNE 2023)

Berlin, the German capital, hosted the Special Olympics from 17 to 25 June 2023, bringing together 7,000 athletes with a mental disability.

Only one athlete, 20-year-old NDOGNDJE LAMINA NAJMA Louisette, who is autistic, represented her country, Cameroon, by winning the gold medal in the women’s 100 metres event on 25 June 2023.

The Indomitable Lioness, accompanied by her mother, Mrs ALIMA NGOUTME, and our compatriot Albert MINLEND, who lives in Berlin and to whom we pay a heartfelt tribute for having sacrificed his time to look after and supervise the young athlete, came to present her beautiful medal to HEM NDOCKI Victor, Cameroon’s Ambassador to Berlin, in the afternoon of Monday 26 June 2023, in the presence of Mrs BABA MBALA Francoise, President of the Board of Directors of the Cameroon Special Olympics Games.

During the particularly moving meeting, which took place in the Embassy’s meeting room, Mrs ALIMA NGOUTME dedicated her daughter’s medal to all autistic children in Cameroon and to the Cameroonian people, and expressed her wish to meet Madame Chantal BIYA to talk to her about the problems of autistic children.

After congratulating the champion on her achievement, the Ambassador promised to pass on her mother’s concerns to the appropriate people.
