WORK AND EXPLORATORY VISIT OF A DELEGATION FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MAROUA IN GERMANY
From June 10 to 16, 2025, a delegation from the University of Maroua, led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idrissou ALIOUM, accompanied by the Directors of the Higher Teacher Training College and the National Higher Polytechnic School, conducted a working and exploratory visit to Germany. This tour was fully supported by the Diplomatic Mission in Berlin through the Cultural Advisor.
The delegation was received by several major academic institutions, including Humboldt University, the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW), the University of Hamburg, the Technical University of Berlin, and finally in Saarbrücken by Saarland University and its University of Applied Sciences.
Discussions focused on developing academic partnerships, scientific research, student mobility, the restitution of Cameroonian cultural heritage, and technological innovation.
Concrete opportunities were identified, particularly in the areas of joint PhD supervision, faculty exchanges, sharing best practices, distance learning between German and Cameroonian universities, student mobility programs, and language immersion to strengthen learners’ academic and intercultural skills.
The University of Maroua, a young and dynamic institution located in the Sahel region, aims to strengthen its international outreach while ensuring the contextualization of its teaching programs.
This mission reflects the commitment to combining academic excellence, respect for local realities, and the integration of technology for sustainable university development adapted to the challenges of its environment.
A highlight of the visit was a recreational evening organized by a Cameroonian diaspora member and cultural promoter. On this occasion, the Cameroonian Ambassador to Germany invited the University of Maroua delegation to take part in this festive and convivial event, hosted by comedian EDOUDOUA and his troupe, alongside young talents.
