On the occasion of the 57th edition of the National Youth Day, whose theme is „moral, civic and entrepreneurial rearmament of young people through the exaltation of patriotism, peace, creativity and Cameroonian togetherness”, the Cultural Service of the Embassy of Cameroon in Berlin unveils its new section, “Faces of the Diaspora”, which presents the successes of its young, positive, ambitious and committed diaspora.

Audrey Syntiche Tchaleu and Sorelle Foudjo are two Cameroonian students in Germany, passionate about communication and empowerment and living in Rheinland-Pfalz and Brandenburg respectively. 

Following a telephone conversation between the two, it was decided to create a new event, the first edition of which took place in Düsseldorf on 10 September 2022. The Foire Des Idées (Ideas Fair), started from the observation that the French-speaking African community, particularly Cameroonian in Germany, is mostly focused on entertainment. In order to create an ecosystem conducive to the sharing of great ideas (which are also discussed in the forums of young people in the diaspora), to the dissemination of the know-how of many talents of the Cameroonian community in Germany in general, the two young students in electrical engineering and computer technology felt that it was necessary to create a framework conducive to meetings of « good intellectual level ». 

The Foire Des Idées is therefore a meeting place for entrepreneurs, specialists, artists or any other person with a desire to know, to exchange and even to learn. The aim of this event is not only to detect the hidden and unexploited talents of our youth in Germany, but also to appreciate artistic performances, to savour African gastronomy in a different way and above all, proposed by the diaspora itself.
The Ideas Fair also offers the possibility to find future business partners, to share the knowledge acquired in Germany in a good spirit and in a friendly atmosphere.

THROWBACK EDITION 1 of the Ideas Fair (LFDI) on 10.09.22 in Düsseldorf

The objectives of this successful event were:
1) to bring together the Cameroonian community in Germany around three discussion panels, whose panelists were all young Cameroonians in Germany :

• INVESTMENT IN REAL ESTATE; THE STOCK MARKET AND E-COMMERCE;
• CONTENT CREATION AND MONETISATION ;
• FEMALE ENTREPRENEURSHIP

2) to share knowledge on the themes of ENDOMETRIOSIS and DREPANOCYTOSIS.
For this event, 100 places were reserved in a local hotel and about sixty people came, which is tangible proof that the Cameroonian community is ready and willing for this type of event, more than ever motivated to change things and to evolve hand in hand.
To organise such an event, the two young students joined forces and called on professionals in each sector, notably decoration, event-planning, music, cooking, photography, marketing, web design and many other fields in which Cameroonians in Germany continue to excel.
